Flin Flon Bombers defenceman Evan Smith gave Bombers coach-GM Doug Stokes one less decision to make. Smith decided to leave the team early this week after Stokes couldn't give the defenceman a guarantee of regular playing time. "Whether he would have been an everyday player, I don't know that," Stokes said. "I guess he's going to concentrate on school from what he's told some of the players. "That's a decision Evan's made. We wish him the best in the future." With Smith out of the picture, that leaves the Bombers with David Holinaty, Braden McCullough, James Pasternak, and Myles Masse as the only veteran defenceman the team has. Keelan Cook is at home in Brandon with a wrist injury. Smith came to the Bombers last season in a trade that sent captain Clayton Geiger to the Battleford North Stars.
