Kelly Carrington Staff Writer It's all about making good choices, friends and having fun. The Girl's Group at Creighton Community School held their annual sleepover at the school last Friday night, April 15. With a night packed full of fun activities, the girls started off with a homemade spaghetti dinner, with caesar salad and garlic bread, of course. A fun hip hop dance lesson came next as the girls put their skills to the test with dance instructor Katie Stevens. Then it was time for hair and makeup as the girls had their annual fashion show. Dressed to the nines, the girls strutted their stuff in the school gymnasium on the makeshift runway. A fun game of hide-and-go-seek followed, in the dark, before it was movie time. Screaming and laughs The roughly 20 girls who attended had fun, based on the level of screaming and laughs that could be heard down the halls of Creighton Community School. The Girl's Group is to help boost not only self-esteem and self worth, but to help girls in making new friends and making good, and healthy, choices in life. Courtney Whitmore, the recreation and community programmer for the school, started the group three years ago with inspiration from Dove's campaign. Every year, the group holds a sleepover, with a fashion show and movies, and some sort of fun activity. Last year, the girls learned zumba, while this year, it was all about hip hop.
