Kelly Carrington Staff Writer With a fresh blanket of snow on the ground, the Flin Flon Ski Club is gearing up for their annual open house. This Sunday the doors of the Chalet will open for the first time this season. Offering information about the facilities and programs available as well as the season's upcoming events, the open house is open to new and returning members. Once again the Ski Club will be offering instruction through the Moms and Tots program, Jackrabbits, Junior Racing team and teaching the basics for any age. Those who register at the open house will also receive a 10 per cent discount on their dues. The trails of the Flin Flon Ski Club are open for use to anyone regardless of membership. For those who are occasional users, a daily payment box is set up near the parking area. Again this season skiers may enjoy 28 kilometres of trails, which are groomed, and lit for 2.2 kilometres along the Valley Loop. Those who don't have their own equipment don't have to worry as the chalet rents skis, boots and poles. Last year the Flin Flon Ski Club hosted the Sask Cup Competition and had over 100 skiers hitting the trails. This season the competition will hit the trails on Jan. 26 and 27. The 38th Annual Centaloppet will take place on March 10 with a mass start on Ross Lake. Duane Davis returns as president for another season alongside past-president Tim Spencer, vice-president Dave Price, secretaries Anita Tetlock and Bob Smith, treasurer Susan Sharp and house chairman Dennis Whitbread.
