Once the snow flies itÕs easy sailing from there Ð for the skiers, that is. Many residents, along with athletes from other areas, take advantage of the groomed ski trails and enjoy a leisure ski through the woods. To get interest peaked into this season, the Flin Flon Ski Club will be hosting their annual Open House Ð which gives people the opportunity to find out about the facilities and the programs as well as catch up with those from the previous season. Through the ski club, athletes are able to take advantage of 27 kilometers of trail, 2.2 kilometers of which is a lit pathway through the Valley Loop. And for those skiers just looking to get into the sport, there are a variety of programs to learn to the art. New to the area this year, the Flin Flon Ski Club will be hosting the XC-Ski Championships at the end of February. And of course, the annual Centaloppet will be taking place in March. ÒThe trails and facilities are maintained by Ski Club volunteers,Ó read a Ski Club poster. This yearÕs president of the Flin Flon Ski Club is Tim Spencer, with vice presidents Dave Price and Duane Davis. Taking on the secretary position are Nolan and Lori Suss, while Susan Shairp will be with treasurer and Bob Jarvis as the House chairman.
