Family members and friends watched as their sons, daughters, nieces, nephews and family friends skated onto the ice Wednesday night at the Whitney Forum to present the skills they had learned over the past year. With skaters from CanPowerSkate, StarSkate, Junior StarSkate and Senior StarSkate on the ice, the crowd of roughly 75 was in for a treat. Coach Heather Powell watched as skaters took to the ice before leading her own group out for a few hockey drills. Whether parents were watching their little ones jump the blue line in hockey gear or watching an attempt at a gliding, the skaters were having a blast. With a few bumps and falls along the way, the skaters picked themselves up off the ice and continued on. As well as the skaters just learning the skills, the junior and senior skaters had their chance to shine as a few did solo programs Ð some of whom earned them medals and placements to Provincials.
