Seven girls from the Flin Flon Skating Club competed in the Provincial STARSkate Championships in Souris, March 4-6. Heather Bergin was the big winner, competing in the Junior Silver Triathlon and winning the gold medal. She placed first in all three of her events, and will be representing Manitoba (and Flin Flon) at the Canadian STARSkate Championship in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on March 31. Her coach Carla Wabick and her mom Lynn will be accompanying her to this event for support. Shilo Baribeau placed first in her flight and qualified for the finals, finishing in fourth. Mikayla Gawiak automatically advanced to the finals, where she won a silver medal. Kara Rutley placed second in her flight and fifth in the finals. Annalee Stevens placed seventh in her flight. Natasha Rothlander was ninth in her flight. Rikki Crone finished seventh in her flight. Due to the Flin Flon School Division meeting on March 23, the Flin Flon Skating Club review will be changed to March 19, starting at 6:30 p.m. All of the skaters have been working hard and invite the public to come out and watch.
