Yesterday was trade deadline day for junior hockey teams across Canada. While the Flin Flon Bombers had a number of players available, only two moves had been made by press time. Captain Stewart Sjoberg is now a member of the Humboldt Broncos. Sjoberg has nine goals and 11 assists in 38 games with 24-penalty minutes.Ê Coming to Flin Flon is 18-year-old defenseman Bradyn McCullough, by way of the Fort Saskatchewan Traders of the AJHL. The Broncos acquired him earlier in the day in exchange for future considerations. "He's a pretty mobile defenseman," said Flin Flon Coach and GM Ryan Hoffman. "He handles the puck pretty well. He has a bit of an edge to him. We had him on our list over the summer, so we end up with him in a roundabout way." McCullough, a 6' defenseman who can carry the puck, was on a plane to Flin Flon at the time this article was written. In their second move of the day, the Bombers completed a trade with the Yorkton Terriers to send Andrew Skrabek and Bob Graham to the Yorkton Terriers in exchange for 19-year-old centre Dalton Pajak and 18-year-old defenseman Blake McCullough. This deal also complete the future considerations that Flin Flon owed Yorkton from the Andrew Leslie deal earlier in the season. Hoffman assured that at least one more deal had to be made by midnight, as the Bombers were still holding eight defensemen. Another early SJHL deal saw the Melville Millionaires send 20-year-old forward Kai Magnussen and 18-year-old goalie Mathew Scott to the Weyburn Red Wings for a player to be named later and future considerations.Ê The Mils have also received word 18-year-old Brandon Peet is being returned to the team from the Prince Albert Raiders, and 18-year-old forward Tyson Sievert, a part of the Bear Trapp trade last week, has been traded from Moose Jaw to Saskatoon in a WHL deal. Melville Head Coach/General Manager Jamie Fiesel says his dealing for the day is likely over.ÊHe has confirmed 20-year-old goalie Jamie Langen and 20-year-old defenseman Chad Krienke will not be moved. The rest of the SJHL deals will be announced on the SJHL's paysite at www.sjhlnet.com or the SJHL's official website at www.sjhl.ca.
