Submitted by SJHL The Flin Flon Bombers didn't quite make the cut this week as none of the Maroon and White were listed as a Player of the Week nor received a nomination. SJHL Player of the Week Nathan Boyer, La Ronge Ice Wolves 1992 F Nathan Boyer (Prince Albert, SK) scored four times and added two assists in only three games last week. One of just a handful of returnees from last year's Credit Union Cup champs, Boyer has elevated his game in an increased role, already tripling last year's goal total, now sitting with 15 goals, 20 assists and 35 points in 38 games. Runners-Up: Skyler Hladun, La Ronge; Jesse Mireau, Melville; Zak Majkowski & Tyler Giebel, Yorkton SJHL Defenseman of the Week Byron Sorensen, La Ronge Ice Wolves 1991 D Byron Sorensen (Kyle, SK) decide to continue his education this year, but after one semester of university, decided to come back to the Ice Wolves, and they're happy to have him back. Sorensen, who was paired with Co-Playoff MVP Dayton Fossum last year, racked up four goals and six points in his first two games back. Runners-Up: Matt Weinsensel, La Ronge; Jeff Datoff, Nipawin; Lee Christensen, Melville; Kelly Leismeister, Yorkton SJHL Goaltender of the Week Matt Hrynkiw, Humboldt Broncos 1992 G Matt Hrynkiw has been thrust into a bigger role with the recent departure of 20-year-old Deven Dubyk to the Western League, and he's been up to the task. Hrynkiw was flawless in two starts this week, posting back-to-back shutouts against Notre Dame and Yorkton, stopping all 53 shots he faced. Hrynkiw now has three shutouts on the season, to go along with his 16-2 record. The Broncos are now winners of their last 14 games.
