The Battlefords North Stars have put together a 14-game undefeated streak to advance within seven points of first place in the ITECH Conference in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League through January 9. The defending champion Kindersley Klippers continue to lead the conference, at 25-12-2 and two overtime losses, for 54 points in 41 games. The Estevan Bruins remain nine points ahead in the Sherwood Conference and are first overall. Estevan is 26-10-5 after its 12-game winning streak was snapped January 7 in Kindersley. Josh Sim contributed two goals and two assists January 5 in Kindersley's 5-3 win over the Melfort Mustangs on home ice. League-leading scorer Troy Schwab accumulated one goal and four assists in Kindersley's 5-4 win over Estevan. Veteran defenceman Gio Flamminio had three assists January 8 in Kindersley's 5-2 win over the Flin Flon Bombers on home ice. Goalie Chance Gieni made 28 stops and had one assist January 7 in Notre Dame's 7-2 win in Weyburn. Goalie Brett Bothwell had 23 saves January 4 in the Yorkton Terriers' 4-0 win over the Weyburn Red Wings on home ice.
