The Flin Flon Bombers have acquired 20-year-old defenseman Rylan Zakreski from the Melville Millionaires in exchange for an unidentified list player. The 6'1", 187Ibs native of Regina is in his third season with the Millionaires and had two goals and one assist in 10 games. During 2003-04, Zakreski scored two goals and added 11 assists in 53 games. He also had 51 penalty minutes. Zakreski played five games with the club in 2002-03. The Battlefords North Stars have made a trade of 19-year-olds with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the AJHL. Going to Alberta is forward Cole Fern, while defenseman Jared Mohr makes his return to the SJHL. Fern, a 5'10", 190Ibs native of Goodsoil, had three points in ten games with the Stars this season. Last year, he led the team with 20 goals and 32 assist in 54 games. Mohr, a 5'11" 185 Ibs product from Regina, was dealt from Estevan to Fort McMurray during the offseason in the trade that netted the Bruins goalie Juliano Pagliero. Last year, Mohr had five goals and 14 assists in 60 games. He also had 77 penalty minutes. Alberta stats were not immediately available.
