The Flin Flon Bombers were one of the busier teams as the January 10 trade deadline came and went on the weekend. It's do or die time for the Bombers to catch Nipawin or Estevan for the final playoff spots, and the Bombers added depth at every position to solidify their roster. Before the weekend, the Bombers added 20 year-old defenseman Julien Matte and 19 year-old goaltender Francois Laverdiere. Both players were toiling in a senior league in Quebec, and made their debuts with the Bombers on the weekend. With three goaltenders in camp, the Bombers then moved 19 year-old goaltender Troy Cernia to the Miramichi Timberwolves of the Maritime Junior Hockey League for future considerations. The Bombers obtained the playing rights of Jimo King from the Lloydminister Blazers (AJHL) for future considerations. King had two assists in eight games with the Blazers, and also had two goals and an assist with the OCN Blizzard earlier this year. In the biggest Bomber deal at the deadline, Flin Flon transfered the playing rights of Tyler Stinton to the Dauphin Kings (MJHL) for Joe Gori. Stinton was third on the Bombers with 21 points in 35 games this season. Gori was second in scoring on the Kings with 40 points in 44 games, including 17 goals. In other SJHL deadline deals, the Humboldt Broncos acquired 19 year-old defenseman Mark McKinnon from the Fernie Ghostriders of the America West Hockey League for future considerations. Estevan Bruins picked up 19 year-old defenseman Ryan Morse from the Lloydminster Blazers in exchange for 19 year-old forward Scott Sinclair. Sinclair was, originally, traded to Notre Dame for Clayton Anderson on Friday, but Anderson neglected to report which voided the deal. Morse is pointless in eight games this season. Weyburn Red Wings traded 19 year-old goaltender Brenden Cuthbert to the Melfort Mustangs for 20 year-old forward Roan Blampin and future considerations. The Melfort Mustangs traded 20 year-old forward Evan Folden to the Melville Millionaires for 18 year-old forward Adam Flick. The Battlefords North Stars dealt 18 year-old goaltender Matt Mateja to the Drumheller Dragons for future considerations. The La Ronge Ice Wolves transfered the playing rights of Shane Smith to the Huumboldt Broncos for future considerations. The Battleford North Stars transfered the playing rights of Jordan Weibel to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (AJHL) for future considerations.
