The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League was proud to be a part of World Diabetes Day on November 14. For the month of November the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has declared the month of November as Diabetes month. All 12 League Team members are participating with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to stage Diabetes events in November. .(ie: wearing JDRF stickers on their helmets, puck drop ceremony prior to start of a game, showcased at the upcoming Showcase in North Battleford from November 26-29. Several SJHL communities have events staged this weekend as well: City of Weyburn, Yorkton, Humboldt, Melfort, and the Town of La Ronge issued proclamations declaring November 14 as World Diabetes Day. Weyburn held its first annual JDRF Walk on Sunday, November 15. In Regina and Saskatoon there were many exciting things happening to recognize and celebrate World Diabetes Day. Mayor Pat Fiacco of the City of Regina issued a Proclamation declaring it World Diabetes Day in the City of Regina on November 14. By 2010, 3 million Canadians will live with some form of diabetes, and approximately 300,000 will live with type 1 diabetes.
