The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce this year's September Showcase will be held in conjunction with the Western Hockey League's Saskatoon Blades as well as traditional partners from the Saskatchewan AAA Midget Hockey League and the CIS Saskatchewan Huskies. The Blades have welcomed September Showcase into the Credit Union Centre as part of their home opening weekend that features all Showcase games grinding to a halt to observe the Blades hosting the Swift Current Broncos on Friday, September 23rd. The SJHL will then play five league games as part of September Showcase at Credit Union Centre on Saturday followed by four more on Sunday. All twelve SJHL clubs will play at the Credit Union Centre once. The CIS Huskies will play there twice. All remaining games, including the SJHL action that is scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be held at the Agri-Twin Arenas, home of the September Showcase 2003. SJHL President Laury Ryan says, "We have taken another step forward with our most fan friendly event to date with the move to Credit Union Centre. The Western Hockey League's Saskatoon Blades and Swift Current Broncos, the twelve SJHL teams which feature the reigning RBC Royal Bank Cup champion Weyburn Red Wings, the national Telus Cup champion Saskatoon Contacts, the CIS national champion Alberta Golden Bears, and CIS national finalist Saskatchewan Huskies mean some of the best hockey Saskatchewan has available will come together at one place with a very reasonable price. It is a hockey fan and scout smorgasboard." Saskatoon Blades owner Jack Brodsky adds, "In light of the new working relationship we have with the SJHL, we are thrilled to have them as a part of our home opening weekend. To have them playing games after our home opener on September 23rd against Swift Current is something we are very happy with." SHA President Al Hubbs concludes, "This event has brought the SJHL to the forefront of junior hockey in Canada during that particular weekend. It has revived interest amongst fans and scouts in what is the best Junior 'A' hockey league in the country. It is also something that has really helped branch the relationship to numerous other levels of hockey."
