In the SJHL on Tuesday night, the Battlefords North Stars put more distance between themselves and both the Flin Flon Bombers and Melfort Mustangs by dumping the 'Stangs 3-1. The Stars jumped ahead of the La Rong Ice Wolves with the win, leading them by one point. They have a five point lead over the Mustangs for fourth place in the ITECH Conference, and a 16 point cussion over the Flin Flon Bombers. Third period goals form Luke Strueby and Curtin Schann gave the Humboldt Broncos a 4-2 win over the Melville Millionaires. The Nipawin Hawks also moved ahead of the Ice Wolves, beating La Ronge 3-2 on a last-minute goal by Kevin Lavallee. Three short handed goals by the Estevan Bruins gave them a 3-2 win over the Notre Dame Hounds. Not to be outdone, Notre Dames goals came one on the power play and one while short handed. The win moved the Bruins into a tie with Notre Dame for first place in the Sherwood Conference. A third period goal by Justin Menke put the Yorkton Terriers ahead of the Weyburn Red Wings for a 2-1 win.
