It's likely no coincidence that with the Bombers winning more, players are being recognized, too. Braden Olszewski is the latest Bomber to be honoured by the league as he was named Player of the Week by the SJHL after collecting two goals and four assists in a three-game span against Melfort, Kindersley and Battlefords'. "It's definitely a big accomplishment," Olszewski said. "A boost of confidence for myself and it gets exposure not just in the community, but the league." The Bombers 5-7, 165 pound forward plays a tenacious game similar to former NHLer Theoren Fleury. Olszewski feels that he's playing well and gives credit for his achievement to his linemates Brett Needham and Richard Dupre. Bombers coach-GM Doug Stokes spoke highly of Olszewski. "He had a very productive week," Stokes said. "He's brought his intensity level up and was rewarded." Stokes added that Olszewski's play has been more consistent and that comes from working more consistently. Since being traded for Jesse Gulbraa from the Lloydminster Bobcats of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Olszewski, referred to by his teammates as 'Olie', has scored 14 goals, 16 assists for 30 points in 28 games and has boosted what was once a struggling power play. His achievements was for the week ending Jan. 15. The last Bomber honoured was Myles Masse, who was named Defenseman of the Week.
