For the second consecutive game, the Weyburn Red Wings failed to dispose of the Yorkton Terriers. Yorkton edged Weyburn 3-2 on Sunday to stay alive in the best-of-seven Sherwood Conference final. The Wings lead the series 3-2. Justin Keller scored a power-play goal at 17:22 of the first period to get the Terriers on the board. Trent Cassan scored the only goal of the second period for Yorkton at 12:59. Rick Wood got Weyburn on the board 48 seconds into the third period, but Lance Herauf restored the two goal lead at 12:20. Ryan Kuntz tallied with just over a minute remaining, but goaltender Kevin Dziaduck shut the door, stopping 26 shots as the Terriers were out shot 28-19 in the game. Yorkton scored one power-play goal on five chances, while Weyburn was held scoreless on three advantages. A total of 1,178 fans took in game five in Weyburn. In the Dodge Conference, Kindersley leads the defending MemberCARE Cup, Anavet Cup and Royal Bank Cup champion Humboldt Broncos 3-2. Game six in both series was played last night. Results were unavailable at press time.
