Player of the Week Blake Peake, Battlefords North Stars 1989 F Blake Peake (Lethbridge AB) scored a goal and added four assists in four games played as Peake and the North Stars dispatched the Melfort Mustangs in five games to advance to the Bauer Conference finals. Peake had two assists in game three, one assist in game four, and a goal and an assist in game five (all three Battlefords victories). Runners-up: Taylor Duzan, Kindersley; Troy Smukowich, Yorkton; Chad Filteau, Battlefords; Doug Lindensmith, La Ronge. Defenseman of the Week Dustin Stevenson, La Ronge Ice Wolves 1989 D Dustin Stevenson (Gull Lake SK) has had an incredible season already and one of the odds-on favorites to win the SJHL MVP award had a week that he can back up as Exhibit A for his Most Valuable Player bid. Stevenson scored three goals and two assists in four games played over the last seven days as he played a big role in eliminating the Bauer Conference top seed Flin Flon Bombers from the playoffs. He stepped up with a goal and two assists in game five as the Ice Wolves rallied from a 3-0 third period deficit to force overtime. He also scored a backbreaking goal midway through the third of game six, the series clincher. Runners-up: Mike Alexander, La Ronge; Cody Folstad, Battlefords; Drew McDermott, Yorkton. Goaltender of the Week Devin Peters, Yorkton Terriers 1989 G Devin Peters (St. Andrews MB) continues to set the pace in the playoffs for all SJHL puckstoppers. Peters stonewalled the top seeded Weyburn Red Wings to the tune of a 2-and-1 record, 1.51-GAA, and .947-SPCT. One of those wins came in overtime that allowed the Terriers to take a commanding 3-games-to-1 lead in their best of seven series. Runners-up: Graham Hildebrand, Battlefords; Josh Thorimbert, Kindersley; Adam Bartko, La Ronge.
