Player of the Week Winner: Brett Leedahl, Kindersley Klippers 1988 F Brett Leedahl (Saskatoon SK) helped lead the Klippers back from a 2-1 deficit against the Estevan Bruins in the Sherwood Conference Elimination Series; and despite his club being down two games in the conference semis to Weyburn; Leedahl has still put up big numbers. In a rare five game week, Leedahl contributed four goals and two assists. That included a hat trick in game four of the Bruin series. Runners-up: Mathieu Lecours, Flin Flon; Johnny Calkins, Kindersley; Kirk Pearce, Kindersley. Defenseman of the Week Winner: Justin Favreau, Weyburn Red Wings 1988 D Justin Favreau (Saskatoon SK) has been a tremendous asset for the Wings ever since his arrival in November. In addition to his usual offensive prowess, Favreau was very steady defensively in games played Saturday and Sunday as the Wings opened their Sherwood Conference semi-final with two wins over Kindersley. His playoff experience in the BCHL has carried over into the SJHL and he makes great use out of his puck rushing and puck passing skills. His physical skills have also been somewhat understated. Runners-up: Mick Pawlyshyn, Weyburn; Michael Young, Flin Flon; Jordan Reeve, Melville. Goalie of the Week Winner: Matt Weninger, Flin Flon Bombers 1988 G Matt Weninger (Lethbridge AB) opened the playoffs the same way he closed the regular season: with two shutouts. Weninger blanked Melfort in game one and game two as the Bombers have taken a 2-0 lead in the Itech Conference Semi-Final. Runners-up: Travis Bosch, Melville; AJ Whiffen, Weyburn; Kyle Birch, Battlefords.
