Player of the Month Troy Smukowich, Yorkton Terriers 1989 F Troy Smukowich (Winnipeg MB) led all SJHL players during the month of March with 11 goals and 18 points in 14 games played. He was a vital cog in the wheel for the Yorkton Terriers and their Cinderella run through the playoffs that has them in the Credit Union Cup finals. He has points in five of his last six games and has overall playoff totals of 12 goals and nine assists in 16 games. Runners-up: Doug Lindensmith, La Ronge; Cody Zubko, Yorkton; Chad Filteau, Battlefords; Kevin Stringfellow, Yorkton; Brett Miller, Battlefords. Defenseman of the Month Dustin Stevenson, La Ronge Ice Wolves 1989 D Dustin Stevenson (Gull Lake SK) has had an incredible month that was capped when he was named the SJHL Player Of The Year. He has backed that up by captaining the Ice Wolves the Credit Union Cup finals against Yorkton. Stevenson had five goals and eight assists in 13 playoff games during the month of March. He's primed for St. Lawrence in the Fall. Runners-up: Mike Alexander, La Ronge; Blaine Tendler, Yorkton; Johnathan Sonntag, Kindersley; Jordan Braid, Kindersley. Goaltender of the Month Adam Bartko, La Ronge Ice Wolves 1990 G Adam Bartko (Battlefords SK) ripped through the month of March by going 9-and-4 (three of those losses were in overtime) and compiling a 2.52-GAA and .933-SPCT. He has played every minute of every game in the playoffs, minus the third period of game two in the Battlefords series. Rookie of the Month Marc-Andre Carre, La Ronge Ice Wolves 1991 F Marc-Andre Carre (Baie Comeau QC) had six goals and five assists in 13 games played during the month of March to lead all SJHL rookies. Carre has played an important secondary scoring role to veterans Doug Lindensmith and Ben Findlay, providing the team with excellence top end depth.
