Graham Christie Award Winner - Jordan Menke, Yorkton Terriers Graduating Terrier forward Menke showed tremendous leadership qualities on his team and his community this past season. A well-liked veteran, Menke was the type of player who worked hard in games and in practice, showing younger players what it takes to be successful. Off the ice, he mentored with Big Brothers, read to young students at various elementary schools, and was often seen mingling with the general public at extra curricular events. Jordan's older brother Justin won this award in 2006-07. Roger Neilson Award Winner - Kevin Knopp, Melfort Mustangs This award is voted on by the 12 coaches and team chaplains of SJHL teams, and it goes to the player who best displays fair play and dedication to the game of hockey. These attributes are both on and off the ice. The winner also has to show a commitment to the team chaplain program. This award is also known as the Hockey Ministries International Award. Kresse Kruger Mantyka Award Winner - Andrew Perrault, Weyburn Red Wings The Kresse-Kruger-Mantyka Award is presented annually to the SJHL player who best exemplifies both high level qualities on the ice and in the classroom. Perrault was an Honor Roll recipient in Grade 10, 11 and 12. He scored 1560 on his SAT. He was the SJHL Defenseman Of The Month in October and was a finalist several other times. He finished with five goals and 28 assists in 52 games and leaves the SJHL as one of the most feared hitters in his age group. He's expected to attend Lake Superior (NCAA Div I) in the Fall. Weyburn players have now won this award in four of the last five years (Chad Anderson twice and Preston Shupe) William Shinske Award Winner - Kevin Moulds The Shinski Award goes to Kevin Moulds, the outgoing SJHL Chairman Of The Board. Moulds served in that capacity for 14 years. The Shinske Award is presented, annually, to the SJHL Builder Of The Year. SJHL Scholarship award winners are: Adam Moar Ð Yorkton Terriers (Adam is attending University of Saskatchewan in the Fall) Tyler Penny Ð Weyburn Red Wings (Tyler is headed to the University of Regina Cougars hockey program) Jordan Menke Ð Yorkton Terriers (Jordan has committed to Wisconsin-Superior in NCAA Div III) Wayne Kartusch Scholarship David Dykstra Ð Flin Flon Bombers (David is expected to be at McMaster University of the CIS)
