The Humboldt Broncos have traded 19-year-old defenseman Drew Rose to the La Ronge Ice Wolves for 20-year-old defenseman Bryan Lewis. The Ice Wolves also get a future prospect. Lewis was just named to the SJHL Itech All-Star team and is a three year league veteran. The 5'10", 185 Ibs native of Fort St. John, B.C. has played 137 games in two and a half seasons with La Ronge. This year, he has one goal and eight assists in 25 games. He also has 113 penalty minutes. The 19-year-old Rose played for Bob Beatty last year in Humboldt and will be reunited with him in La Ronge. The 6'3", 225 Ibs product of North Battleford has added an offensive dimension to his game this season with one goal and 11 assists in 23 games. He also has 45-penalty minutes. Scholarships The La Ronge Ice Wolves have announced 20-year-old forward Jeff Marshall has accepted a full ride scholarship to attend the University of Maine beginning in 2005-06. Marshall becomes the fourth SJHL player to agree to a scholarship for next season. He currently leads his team in scoring with 11 goals and 24 assists in 29 games. For his career, Marshall has played 139 games, scored 69 goals, 79 assists, and 148 points. The 5'11", 185 Ibs native of Kyle follows in the foot steps of ex-Estevan defenseman Prestin Ryan, who finished up his NCAA tenure as captain of the Black Bears in 2003-04. Notre Dame's 19-year-old forward Chris Hahn has agreed to a full ride scholarship with the University of Maine Black Bears. The 5'9", 185 Ibs native of Fort Qu'Appelle flew to the NCAA Division I school over the weekend and came to an agreement with school and hockey officials. Hahn has emerged as one of the top players in the SJHL and is threatening for the league scoring title with 18 goals and 23 assists in 30 games. Last season, he had nine goals and 16 assists in 57 games. The Lake Superior Lakers of the NCAA have announced a third SJHL recruit to their 2005-06 roster. See 'Future' P.# Con't from P.# The 1985 born defenseman Matt Wheeler of the Weyburn Red Wings has joined Kindersley forwards Troy Schwab and Josh Sim as future members of the program. Wheeler is a physical defenseman who scored one goal and thirteen assists in 55 games last season. He had 139 penalty minutes. This season, Wheeler has four goals and two assists in 25 games. He also has 112 penalty minutes. The 6'2", 205 Ibs native of Arcola appears to be the type of player Head Coach Frank Anzalone is looking for. "Wheeler is a big, strong defenseman with a really good shot. All of the recruits skate well, and they all contribute to their teams' success. They all play with some jam - they exhibit grit and determination. Those are attributes that we really need."
