The Yorkton Terriers are pleased to announce the hiring of John Kachur as their new interim volunteer assistant coach to work under the guidance of Head Coach Ed Zawatsky. Kachur, who is a Yorkton native, played in the Western Hockey League for five seasons, including 1996-97 when he led the expansion Edmonton Ice in scoring. The 27-year-old has been playing professionally overseas since 2001 and still has aspirations to continue in that regard. For now, he'll get his feet wet in the coaching ranks with the Terriers. Yorkton is also hiring Greg Vaughn as a part-time volunteer assistant coach. Vaughn (43) is employed full-time at Urban County Dodge in Yorkton. He has lived in Melville for the last six years and has helped developed the Bantam and Midget 'AA' programs in that city. In other Terrier news, graduating defenseman Andy Chipelski has signed a professional contract to play for the Kalamazoo K-Wings of the United Hockey League. The 6'2", 207 Ibs blueliner from Angusville MB played four seasons of Junior 'A' hockey in Yorkton. He had 11-goals and 22-assists in 60-games in 2003-04. The Terriers would like to wish best of luck to Andy and also welcome aboard John and Greg to the family. Trade The Flin Flon Bombers are pleased to announce the acquisition of forward Cole McLean from the Notre Dame Hounds. McLean, a 20-year-old native of Balcarres SK, scored 2-goals in 26-games with the Hounds last season. In Flin Flon, McLean is re-united with former midget coach Ryan Hoffman, whom the former played under with the Yorkton 'AAA' Midget Hockey Club. In exchange for McLean, the Hounds get future considerations.
