The Notre Dame Hounds are sending another player to the NCAA. The latest is 19-year-old Raphael Robitaille, who will be attending Norwich College (Division III) after a season in which he scored 14 goals and 22 assists in 57 games. For his career, Robitaille played 111 games and picked up 62 points. Meanwhile, overage forward Mathieu Maisonneuve is headed to Camrose College in Alberta this fall. Maisonneuve had 13 goals and 23 assist in 55 games with the Hounds. He will be headed closer to his hometown of Donnelly AB. And, towering defenseman Travis Martell is trying out for the U.B.C. Thunderbirds of the CIS. The 6'5" native of Kelowna had eight assists in 34 games in 2003-04. The Hounds wish the best of luck to these three players. The Melfort Mustangs have announced the acquisition of 19-year-old forward Nick Vandenbeld for their training camp when it commences on September 1st. Vandenbeld was, formally, acquired during the offseason from the Victoria Salsa of the BCHL. He had bitch goals and two assists in 37 games. Meanwhile, the Kindersley Klippers have traded forward Steve Matic to the BCHL's Langley Hornets. Matic had eight goals and nine assists in 53 games last season. The move takes the 6', 190 lbs 19 year-old Burnaby native closer to his hometown. And, former Melfort goalie Anton Wintner has received an academic scholarship to Harvard. Wintner has contacted the NCAA Division I Crimson hockey team and has earned himself a try-out next month. He was 5-8-and-4 with a 3.92 GAA and .895 SPCT last season. The Mustangs wish Anton the best of luck in his academic career and hope he can make the most of his athletic opportunity.8/30/2004
