The Estevan Bruins acquired 20-year-old goaltender Matt Gassman from the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Winnipeg South Blues on Thursday. The Littleton, Colorado native went 10-and-4 with a 3.42-GAA and .901-SPCT with the Blues last season.Ê Estevan Head Coach Kelvin Mackay is hopeful Gassman can increase the competition for the number one goaltender spot with Stefan Koo on the club for the upcoming season.Ê Meanwhile, the Bruins also announced graduating forward Donovan Hall has garnered an NCAA Division III scholarship to play for the Neumann Knights of the ECAC West. Hall, who was acquired from the Flin Flon Bombers on December 1st, 2004 played 42-games this season and scored 12-goals and 18-assists.Ê He spent the majority of his junior career with the La Ronge Ice Wolves. Three graduating Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League players have announced their intent to play hockey in the CIS this season. Weyburn forward Rick Wood and Nipawin defenseman Kyle Nichols are joining the Manitoba Bisons, while the Wilfred Laurier Golden Hawks have laid claim to Melfort goaltender Aaron Forer. Wood scored 15-goals and 28-assists in 51-games during the regular season with the defending RBC Royal Bank Cup national champion Red Wings. He turned up his play during the RBC Royal Bank Cup tournament by finishing second in overall scoring and also potting the winning goal in the 3-2 win over Camrose in the gold medal game.
