The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has suspended two players from the Nipawin Hawks as a result of a multiple fight incident that occured during the second period of a game played on Tuesday, November 9th. Hawks defenseman Patrick Carriere will miss five games, starting with November 12th and including other games on November 13th, 17th, 19th, and 23rd as it was determined Carriere was the third man involved in a fight that caused the multiple fight situation. Mike Bulawka has been suspended for games on November 12th and 13th for his participation in the incident. Both teams involved, the Hawks and Flin Flon Bombers, have been fined $400. Meanwhile, Melfort Mustangs defenseman Dallas Thomson has been suspended for three games after he received a match penalty against the Nipawin Hawks in a game played November 12th. Thomson was penalized for spearing Nipawin forward Jonathan Lawrance early in the overtime period in a contest that saw the Hawks win 3-2. The Flin Flon Bombers have traded 20-year-old defenseman Dan McIlwain to the Fort William North Stars of the Superior International Hockey League in exchange for future considerations. McIlwain played 12-games this season for the La Ronge Ice Wolves and had 1-goal, 1-assist, and 11-penalty minutes. He was dealt to Flin Flon last month, but opted to stay home in Thunder Bay. The 6'3", 215 Ibs blueliner moves closer to where he intends to make a living once his hockey career is over. Last season, McIlwain had 4-goals and 6-assists ni 56-games with La Ronge. Meanwhile, the Humboldt Broncos have moved 20-year-old defenseman Craig Macfie to the Canmore Eagles for future considerations. Macfie appeared in 14-games with the Broncos this season and had 1-goal, 1-assist, and 20-penalty minutes. The 5'10", 186 Ibs native of Crystal Springs SK was traded to Humboldt from La Ronge as part of the offseasno deal that saw goaltender Alex Gagnon go to the Ice Wolves.
