There was only one game played in the SJHL on Wednesday night, but it was an important one as far as the Flin Flon Bombers are concerned. The Kindersley Klippers did the Bombers a favour, knocking off the Melfort Mustangs by a score of 5-3. Chris O'Connor had two goals in the third period to lead the way for Kindersley, who went 2/2 on the power play. The Bombers now have two games in hand on the Mustangs, but trail them by 11 points for the final playoff spot in the ITECH Conference. The Klippers now have a six point lead over the Nipawin Hawks for first place in the ITECH Conference. The Estevan Bruins have announced that forward Trevor Hyatt has accepted a scholarship to Alaska-Fairbanks for the 2005-06 season. The 19-year-old Hyatt joined the Bruins during the January 2004 trade deadline and played 19 games, scoring eight goals and three assists. This season, he has seven goals and 14 assists in 28 games. A native of Anchorage, Hyatt will be headed home for his NCAA collegiate career to play for the Nanooks, who also have ex-Battlefords North Star defenseman Jordan Hendry on the team. Hyatt is the third SJHL player to get an NCAA Division I scholarship, joining Kindersley's Troy Schwab and Josh Sim. Both of those players are off to Lake Superior State for 2005-06.
