The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has released the names of forty players selected to participate in the SJHL All-Star Weekend, which takes place January 14 and 15 in Humboldt. The host Broncos have placed three players (goalie Nathan Heinen, defenseman Brad Schroeder, and forward Arlen Marshall) on the Sherwood Conference All-Star Team. The Yorkton Terriers will have the most players on the Sherwood All-Stars with six players getting chosen. For the Itech Conference All-Stars, the Nipawin Hawks, Battlefords North Stars, and La Ronge Ice Wolves will all send five players to the midseason classic. The only unanimous selection was Notre Dame defenseman Kris Fredheim. The Itech Conference starting line-up features Nipawin goalie Dan Bauer, Kindersley's Brady Larock and Battlefords' Derek Keller, wingers Michael George of Battlefords and Dillon Henningson of La Ronge as well as centre Josh Belair of Nipawin. The Sherwood Conference starting line-up has Weyburn's Russell Monette in goal and Deder Klassen of Melville and Fredheim of the Hounds on defense. The forwards are Chris Korchinski of Yorkton at centre and Terrier teammate Jason Wagar on one wing with Estevan's Dominic Cote on the other side. The Sherwood Conference coaching staff will be led by Ed Zawatsky of the Yorkton Terriers. Zawatsky's support crew from Yorkton also consists of Assistant Dan McKay and Trainers Ron Holloway and Brett Marianchuk. The Itech Conference coaching staff is fronted by Battlefords bench boss Glen Watson. He'll be assisted by his Star cohorts Dustin Bru and Greg Sheppard. Bill Choque, Dale Jackson, and Sherri Swaney will be the trainers.
