After dropping the first game at home, the Yorkton Terriers evened their series with the Battlefords North Stars with a 2-1 triple overtime win on Sunday. Rookie Scott Carpenter scored his second goal of the playoffs at 5:58 of the third extra frame, sending the series back to North Battleford on Tuesday even at 1-1. Yorkton's Barry Sparvier scored the first goal of the game at 1:26 of the second period. The Stars waited until 18:59 of the third period to tie the game. Brett Jullion scored with the goaltender pulled in favour of the extra attacker. Carpenter's goal marked the second win for the Terriers in triple OT this year. They also picked up a win in double OT. Shots on net were 45-39 in favour of the Terriers, who won the game in front of over 2,000 fans. Both teams combined to go 0/13 on the power play. The series moves to North Battleford for games three and four on Wednesday and Thursday. MJHL In the MJHL, the Portage Terriers are now in control of the Turnbull Trophy Final after a convincing 8-2 win on Sunday over the Selkirk Steelers. The Terriers now lead the series 3-2 after back-to-back wins. Colin Slobodian led the attack with his second hat trick of the series. Steve Haddon, Jordan McIntyre, Chris Reykdal, Kent Merriam and Bryan Bouchard added singles. Adam Sergerie and Evan Walsh scored for the Steelers, who were out shot 37-29. A handful of players could be out of the lineups for each team when the series resumes, as a multiple fight situation broke out early in the second period. Eight players were ejected from the game at the 3:50 mark of the period, when the score was only 2-0. Game six will be in Selkirk tonight. If necessary, game seven will be played in Portage on Thursday.
