The Battlefords North Stars moved a step closer to capturing the SJHL Championship, edging Yorkton 3-2 on Wednesday night to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Andrew Skrabek opened the scoring for Yorkton with a goal at 9:04 of the first period. It was his first of the series. Sam Webber tied the game at 10:54, and then second period goals by Jeff Blaquiere and Jared Keller put the game away. The game ended with a couple of fights at the 20:00 mark of the third period between some of the top players on each team. Michael George of the Stars, and Barry Sparvier and Lance Herauf of the Terriers all received fighting majors and various misconducts. Final shots on net were 29-29. Yorkton scored one power play goal on three chances, while the Stars scored once on six chances in front of 2,234 fans at home. Game four was played last night in North Battleford.
