Two players who toiled in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League were selected in the NHL Entry Draft on Sunday. The Washington Capitals were responsible for both choices as they grabbed Nova Scotian Andrew Gordon from the Notre Dame Hounds in round seven, 197th overall. Gordon has an NCAA scholarship to St. Cloud for this coming season. In 2003-04, Gordon scored 20 goals and added 44 assists in 55 games. The Porter's Lake native stands 5'11" and weighs 180 Ib. The Caps looked to the Estevan Bruins and goaltender Justin Mrazek in the eighth round, 230th overall. Mrazek, who garnered a scholarship to Union after just one season in the SJHL, went 14-16-and-5 with a 3.14-GAA and .903-SPCT. The 6'3" 185 lb. Regina product backstopped the Yorkton Harvest to the Air Canada Cup Regional Championship. Former Melville Millionaire Aaron Boogaard was also chosen on Sunday. He went in the sixth round, 175th overall to the Minnesota Wild. Boogaard, who now plays for the Tri-City Americans, suited up for about a month with the Mils this past season while he awaited a trade from the Calgary Hitmen. He scored three goals and one assist in 23-games with the Amerks. He picked up one assist in 12 games with the Hitmen.
