The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League held its Annual General Meeting in Nipawin over the weekend. Highlights are as follows: A Celebration Official congratulations were handed to the Humboldt Broncos for laying claim to the Credential Cup, ANAVET Cup, and RBC National Championship. 2008-09 Regular Season Notes Training camps will open August 29 with exhibition games taking place from August 31 through to September 10. The regular season begins September 12 and will run until February 18 2009; encompassing a 56 game schedule (28 home and 28 away). Each team will play a geographical rival eight times (four home, four away) and then face other clubs within the conference six times (three home, three away). Itech Conference teams play Sherwood Conference teams four times (twice at home and twice on the road). The Christmas Break is December 22-26. The SJHL All-Star Game will be held on January 18, 2009 and it will be held in conjunction with Hockey Day In Saskatchewan. Playoffs The post-season begins February 20, 2009 with five teams in each conference making the playoffs. The fourth and fifth place teams will play a best of five Survivor Series with the winner advancing to play the first place club in the conference semi-finals, which will be a best of seven. Second and third will also play a best of seven conference semi-final. All subsequent rounds (conference finals and league finals) are also best of seven affairs. World Junior ÔAÕ Challenge Evaluate The SJHL has spearheaded an October training camp, which will be held in an SJHL centre for SJHL, MJHL, and SIJHL candidates for the Canada West World Junior ÔAÕ Challenge team. In light of the WJAC training camp, there will be no September Showcase in 2008.
