In the first game of the MemberCARE Cup SJHL final, the Kindersley Klippers dumped the Weyburn Red Wings 3-1. Jason Fleck opened the scoring at 11:02 from Jade Boklaschuk and Josh Sim. Eric Schwabe scored at 4:25 of the second period, with Casey Lee and Brady Larock assisting, and Boklaschuk scored at 2:12 of the third period during a five-minute power play, from Fleck and Chris O'Connor to give the Klippers a 3-0 lead. Rick Wood's unassisted goal at 11:10 put the Wings on the board, but it was as close as they could get, despite out shooting the Klippers 26-15.MJHL Final In the MJHL, Dustin Hughes scored a powerplay goal with 1:50 remaining in the third period as the Selkirk Steelers edged the Portage Terriers 5-4 in front of a sold out crowd of 1300+ Sunday night to grab a 2-games-to-0 lead in the best of seven MJHL final. The Steelers ended up going 4-for-10 with the man advantage and also chased starting goalie Anthony Marshall from the game just 7:06 into the first period after a powerplay goal from Jamie Dowhayko and one at even strength delivered by Steve Lajoie. Hughes made it 3-0 when he greeted Stefan Drew with a powerplay goal just past the midway point. Portage answered with three of their own in the second. Two of those went to Brent Blachford and the other was scored by Tim Plett. With Devon Smith off for hooking at 3:15, Jordy Black restored the lead to 4-3 for the Steelers with a powerplay goal at 4:58. The Terriers tied it up just over two minutes later thanks to Bryan Bouchard. Tim Plett was then called for elbowing at 17:27 and Hughes scored 1:23 into the powerplay to account for the winner. Winning goalie Justin Harris turned aside 36-shots. Marshall was good on 8-of-10. Drew made 26-saves on 29-shots the rest of the way.
