How does celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Flin Flon Bombers 1957 Memorial Cup championship team with the SJHL all-star game sound? If your answer was good, then that's exactly what's going to happen. The Bombers organization won the bid for the game over the Estevan Bruins. "I'm very happy and the organization's thrilled to host it again," said Bombers marketing representative, Lee Deary. "I think it's a fantastic opportunity." The last time the Bombers hosted the all-star game was in 2002 when the SJHL all-stars played the MJHL team coached by Doug Stokes. The decision, in Leary's opinion, comes at a time with the Bombers making a successful turnaround. He stated there was "doom and gloom associated with the club. "There's optimism for the team and I think the league recognizes that," he said. While the team plans to honour the '57 Memorial Cup champs, the organization has more surprises planned. SJHL president, Laury Ryan felt the presentation of what Flin Flon will do is similar to Humboldt, which hosted this year's game with a sportsman supper and home game before the actual event. Ryan said the Bombers' desire to tie-in the 50th anniversary celebration with the all-star game shows the willingness to put on a good show. "The governors overwhelmingly supported it," Ryan said. "If it's just an all-star game, it's a limiting draw."6/2/06
