Three teams battling for top spot in the Dodge Conference were all winners in SJHL action on Tuesday night. Humboldt, Battleford and Kindersley all picked up victories, and remain first, second and third respectively. The Kindersley Klippers dumped the La Ronge Ice Wolves 6-0, with six different contributors on the score sheet. Nathan Deobald was only tested 12 times in the contest, while Mike Carozza was lit up five times on 19 shots in the first half of the game. He was replaced by Kraig Kuczynski, who allowed one goal on 15 shots in relief. The Klippers out shot the Ice Wolves 40-12, and both teams were held scoreless on three power play chances. Steve Makway scored at 2:32 of overtime to lift the Battlefords' North Stars over the Nipawin Hawks 4-3. It was his second goal of the game. All six regulation goals were scored on the power play, as both teams went 3/8 with the extra attacker. The North Stars out shot the Hawks 39-28. The Humboldt Broncos erased a 3-0 deficit to come from behind and eventually beat the Notre Dame Hounds 5-4. Pat Wilmot had two goals for the Hounds in the losing cause, while Brendan Vanthuyne had a goal and three assists for the Broncos. The game was filled with penalties, resulting in three power-play goals on 13 tries for the Broncos. Notre Dame's power play did not click, and they failed to score on their 13 chances. Humboldt remains six points in front of the Battlefords' North Stars. The Stars, however, have four games in hand, as do the Kindersley Klippers, who are seven points off the pace. Nipawin, Estevan and Notre Dame continue to battle for the final two playoff spots in the SJHL. The Hawks and the Bruins currently hold on to the final spot in the Dodge and Sherwood Conferences with 51 points each, while the Hounds are on the outside looking in with 50 points. Should the Hounds pass the Hawks, they will cross over to make the playoffs. Nipawin has two games in hand over both Notre Dame and Estevan. The Flin Flon Bombers are still mathematically in the equation, with 38 points in 51 games.
