In SJHL action on Wednesday night, the Humboldt Broncos edged the Battlefords' North Stars 2-1 on a third period power-play goal by Simon Nadeau at 3:40. After a scoreless first period, Humboldt's Jeff Nuttall opened the scoring just 47 seconds into the second period. Battlefords' Dylan Dufour replied at 3:10. The Broncos, winners of seven of their last ten games, now lead the North Stars and the Kindersley Klippers by six points in the race for first place in the Dodge Conference. The Stars have played four less games than the Broncos, while the Klippers have four games in hand. The only other game on the schedule, to be played in Melfort between the Mustangs and the Melville Millionaires, was canceled because of the cold weather. The game will be made up on March 5. It was the second game this week to be rescheduled due to weather. Earlier this week, the game between the Weyburn Red Wings and Notre Dame Hounds was called off, and will be played on February 16.
