The Kindersley Klippers and Notre Dame Hounds started off the week with big wins. Kindersley's victory moves the team into an early share of first place in the ITECH Conference with the Nipawin Hawks, while Notre Dame's win puts the Hounds in sole possession of top spot in the Sherwood Conference. The Hounds defeated the Estevan Bruins 3-2 on Tuesday, on goals by Tyson Hoover, Dan Erlandson and Chad Anderson. Lorne Tytlandsvik and Andrew Howden replied for the Bruins. The Hounds out shot the Bruins 42-31, and each team had one power-play goal in a fairly calm affair played in front of 280 fans in Wilcox, Saskatchewan. It was the Hounds' fifth consecutive win after dropping the opening game of the season. Nipawin's power-play and penalty kill struggled on Tuesday night, as the Hawks dropped a 3-1 decision to the Kindersley Klippers. All four goals in the game were scored on the power play. Chris O'Connor, Jade Boklaschuk and Gio Flamminio had the Kindersley goals, while Kyle Krunick scored for Nipawin late in the third period. It was Jonathan Meyer's first SJHL win, and moved the Klippers into a three-way tie with Nipawin and the La Ronge Ice Wolves for first place in the north. Kindersley's power-play was the key, scoring three goals on seven chances, while Nipawin scored once on seven opportunities. The Klippers out shot the Hawks 33-23. Only 536 fans attended the game in Nipawin.
