In Jerry Maguire, Tom Cruise had Rene Zellweger at "hello" in his speech to get her. For the Flin Flon Bombers getting list players Brett Harvey and Reid MacLeod to sign, David Holinaty and Tyler Beachell told them what a great place Flin Flon is to play hockey. "I'm really excited," Brett said from Saskatoon. His other options were the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League and OCN Blizzard in the MJHL. "It doesn't matter which team, I like to prove myself to the coaches and players," he said. "I'm going in knowing it's a good team and a good franchise." Brett enters training camp having completed two season of Midget AAA. If he does earn a job on the blueline, don't expect a lot of flash. "I'm a defensive defenceman," said Brett, who collected three goals and eight points in 31 games with the Saskatoon Blazers. "I'm solid in the backend and I will contribute a little bit." He will be in a tough battle to earn a position on a defence that has captain Blake McCullough, David Holinaty, James Pasternak, Bradey Fidierchuk, possibly Bradyn McCullough, Keelan Cook, Evan Smith and Myles Masse. In Reid, who is from Teulon, MB, just north of Beachell's hometown of Rosser, he spoke to the Princeton-bound player who said all the right things for him to sign with the Bombers. "It was a no-brainer," said Reid, who is really happy the Bombers listed him. Last season with the Interlake AAA Lightning, Reid collected 44 points in 40 games. "Each time I go up a level, I have produced," he said. "I would love to continue doing that." The 6-1, 170 pound forward has been working hard to play for the maroon and white. When Reid shows up in late August for camp, he has no expectations other than giving his best effort and show what he can do. "I expect it to be a good challenge. I heard it's going to be a good team," he said. Not only is he looking forward to becoming a Bomber, he looks forward to playing in the SJHL, which plans to call infractions the way the NHL does. "I like that idea. I've never been one to clutch and grab," he said. "I'm excited. I'm more of a physical guy. I like to work in the corners." While producing for the Lightning, he also amassed 82 penalty minutes. The Bombers describe him as a solid two-way player with great work ethic and is known for his leadership abilities.
