Hockey players looking to keep up their game during the Christmas break will have an opportunity to do just that at the Shoot 'n Score Hockey Skills Camp, being held at the Whitney Forum from December 27-31. "The camp is designed to work on improving the basic skills of skating, puck handling, passing and shooting for hockey players of all ages," said Ryan Hoffman, camp director. "We will use on-ice instruction, as well as off-ice classroom sessions to give players the knowledge needed to understand how to perform skills correctly." The program will be presented in a progression so concepts learned in the classrooms will be applied in the on-ice instruction sessions. Hoffman will be assisted by members of the Flin Flon Bombers team throughout the camp. "Having coached some minor hockey myself, I know what it's like trying to run a practice over Christmas when four or five of your players are missing," said Hoffman. "It's an opportunity for the kids to stay on the ice during the break, and hopefully learn something and have lots of fun. We're hoping for a good turnout." All players will receive 8.5 hours of on-ice instruction, as well as three classroom/dryland sessions. The camp will be run in two groups with players sorted by age. Deadline for early registration is on Monday, December 15. You can register at the Flin Flon Bomber office in the Flin Flon Community Hall or the Bomber dressing room at the Whitney Forum. For more information, contact the Bomber office at 687-4404.
