The Northern Olympics, for seniors, was held at the Flin Flon Community Hall last Tuesday and Wednesday with competitors from The Pas and Flin Flon. Tuesday started things off with cribbage and whist. Seniors from The Pas were only able to make it for the games on Tuesday, so Wednesday's games of shuffle board, floor curling and carpet bowling were held amongst the Flin Flonners. Organizer Ruth Roncin, of Flin Flon, says she was "happy with the outcome." The Northern Olympics take place every year, but in alternating locations. "Snow Lake has invited us to go up there next year," says Roncin, explaining that the Snow Lake seniors were unable to attend this year's event as they were entertaining some Americans. The communities get together every fall "to get to know each other," says Roncin, who adds her favourite part of the event is to "get to know everyone from different communities and keep in touch." Winners from each event are as follows: Cribbage 1. Phylis MacKenzie and Vern Kozak of Flin Flon 2. Elmer and Sharon Arnold of The Pas Whist (all winners from Flin Flon) 1.
