It was a cool chilly cold north wind that greeted the 28 senior golfers who came out for the first scramble of the season on Wednesday. The wind really affected the play of the seniors. Seven foursomes teed off with the best performance turned in by Terry Lofgren, Doug Ormiston, Grant Adams and Gerry Nomeland with minus 9 points earned. Next with minus 10 points were Glen Campbell, Metro Lekopoy, Rick Switzer and Merle Sproxton. Third with minus 12 points were Garnet Wheeler, Hugh Howat, Al Mills and Bruce Reid. Fourth money with minus 13 points were Gord Brown, Ken Allen, Ron Thorley and Scotty Graham. Other foursomes out of the money but deserve honourable mention for braving the wind were Brian Dixon, Cam Wiolson, Barry Smith, Bob Quinn and Jim Conner, Lee Fisher, Ron Wiebe, Bill Martinot and Sandy Earnest, Bev Baker, Alex Lekopoy, Doug Anderson. On the other competitions, Ron Wiebe was low gross with a 42, Doug Ormiston was low net with a net 33. Jim Conner won the loonie pot on #6 and Metro Lekopoy canned the longest putt on #8. Another reminder that the MSOS area golf qualifying competition is at The Pas next Wednesday May 26 at 10 a.m. Our next Seniors Scramble will therefore be next Tuesday, May 25. First foursome off #1 tee at 8:30 a.m. 5/21/2004
