One of the best mornings of the season and with the golf course in beautiful shape should have been a great day for seniors to perform their best. But alas the weather was too intoxicating for us. Not one group earned their alloted points. The group of Hugh Howat, Dick Berthiaume and Jim Conner took top spot with a minus two. Next with minus three points were Jim Russell, Barry Smith, Bev Baker and Paul Warga. Third with minus four points were Cal Hammond, Brian Row, Jim Stevenson and Ted Baumgartner. Two foursomes tied for fourth, Sandy Ernest, Stan Curtis, Doug Ormiston, Merle Sproxton and Doug Anderson, Bryan Dixon, Glen Smith, Dale Powell. The balance of the field got ziltch. Garnet Wheeler took the loonie pot on #6 with a closest that was 30 feet from the cup, Bev Baker, with an 18 foot putt was the best on #8 green. Low Gross was Hugh Howat with a 39 and he also took low net with a net 32. For the first time this year we are introducing a Seniors Championship. To get it started we are taking the seniors with the best net scores for Wednesday and putting their names in a straight knockout. The winner will get a box of golf balls. The playoff will be played as a handicap competiton as follows: Hugh Howat 7 vs Garnet Wheeler 11. Paul Warga 9 vs George Komanac 15. Doug Ormiston 9 vs Brian Row 15. The number behind each name represents their respective nine hole handicap. Score cards for the first round of play are in the pro shop. Participants will arrange their play times. Another year the competition will be refined to provide for greater participation. For further info contact Stan Curtis or Jim Conner. Our next seniors scramble will be on Wenesday, September 22. First foursome off #1 tee at 9 a.m.
