With the exceptionally warm spring this year, our Seniors Scramble has probably had its earliest start ever. One senior told me he has played 15 rounds already. So it is not surprising that last week we had 32 seniors out and 37 this week. Great that our 60-plus, 70-plus and 80-plus seniors can get out and enjoy a round of golf, fresh air and sunshine and of course, time with their buddies. Top foursome with five points - Terry Grindle, Al Mills, Ted Baumgartner and Ron Watt; second with two points - Bill Martinot, Grant Adams, Roy Henry and Ron Atkinson; third and fourth groups tied with zero points - Alex Graham, Cal Hammond, Alex Lekopoy and Doug Anderson, and Stan Curtis, Metro Lekopoy, Ron Thorley, George Neufeld; fifth with minus two points - Al Bhatt, Harvey Fleming, Barry Smith and Paul Warga. Longest putt on #8 by Ron Atkinson and Alex Graham was closest on #6 for the loonie pot. One of the primary rules of the Phantom Lake Golf Club is for foursomes only. In the past, seniors on Wednesday morning have been allowed fivesomes on occasion to accommodate late arrivals. In the future we would encourage seniors to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to our allotted tee time in order that we can avoid the problem of using groups of five. Our next Seniors Scramble will be on Wednesday, May 24, with the first foursome off the number one tee no later than 9 a.m.5/23/2006
