Twenty five rinks participated in this year's Seniors Bonspiel and, without exception, everyone who entered seemed to have a great time. The curlers also seemed to like the format of having the rinks drawn out of a hat, which enabled them to curl with people they probably would never have had a chance to play with before. There were some great shots, and there were some not-so-great shots, and there was lots of fun had by everyone. The winners of the ladies side of the bonspiel in the Flin Flon Credit Union Event were the Ann Wiebe rink of Gerri Kostuchuk, Betty Fehr and Phyllis Mckenzie. They won over the Sue Chrisp team of Maureen Lylyk, Shirley Lofgren and Lynda White, and what a game it was! Chrisp had Wiebe 9 to 3 after six ends, but Wiebe's persistence paid off and they chipped away and won the game. Third in the Main Event went to the Joanne Palmer rink of Kay Larsson, Fern Kozak and Yvonne Davis with Judy Maitland's team of Karen Anderson, Beryl James and Denise Rose taking fourth place. In the Curves Event the Marg Bragg team of Donna Giest, Bev Beever and Diane Burwash won over the Wendy Weseen team of Cathy Moore, Karin Hanson and Della Chilson. The Third Event was sponsored by the Ladies Bonspiel Committee and was won by Diane Pico, Darlene Myden, Mavis Hucaluk and Megan Miller over Ann Henry's team of Donna Streitle, Marlene Anderson and Angie Gryba. See 'On' P.# Con't from P.# On the men's side, the Main Event was sponsored by Lavis Woodworking and Crafts, and was won by Jim Meyer, L. Lavis, D. Rose and C. Wilson over the D. Holmes team of S. Russell, N. LeClerc and E. Willetts Ñ who won the Friendship Centre/Kleen All prize. In the Johnny's Event the winner was John Faktor with Doug Anderson, S. Lundquist and D. Gibson over the Harold Harris team of Bev Baker, Lorne Morrison and Herb Thurston who won the Creighton Hardware prize. In the R.J.'s Third Event, the winner was Den Anderson with D. Logan, D. Gourlay (D. Molien) and R. Black over Al Chartrand, M. Pedwell, B. Borschewski and T. McDonald who won the Arctic Beverage prize. Just a note that the Master's Zones takes place at Willowpark on Thursday, February 3 (the first game is set for noon) and Friday February 4. For further information please call Jack Scott at 687-6744. Also a heads up, the 75th anniversary at the Uptown Curling Club will be taking place with a huge mixed bonspiel to be held as the last bonspiel of the season, set for the first weekend in April. There is a big social being planned for the Saturday night, with a live band etc. They are seeking memorabilia from the past years such as sweaters, pictures, programs etc. If you have anything you want to loan for the display or want further information, please get in touch with Lora Abele who is the bonspiel chairperson at 688-8412.
