Questions and comments came from those in attendance regarding the change to the season tickets at the Flin Flon Bomber AGM last Wednesday night at The Prospector Inn. Many of the questions went to President Hank Kosar with anger, frustration and confusion as to why the season tickets had to be changed at all. In prior years, purchasing a season ticket was like buying 28 individual tickets, which did not have to be used on specific nights. Instead of attending every game, season ticket holders had the option of using up several tickets at once by treating family and friends to an evening of hockey. This year the club will number the season tickets, meaning that each ticket will only be valid for one specified home game. From the questions coming to Kosar, HBMS shift workers didn't find it fair because they normally split packages with others Ð but it won't work that way this year. According to the Flin Flon Bomber board, the Maroon and White were the only team in the SJHL not to have their tickets numbered. Comments were also heard that people won't be buying tickets this year, but the board responded by saying people say that every year, and every year, people buy tickets. "You can't please everyone and we have thought long and hard about it," said Kosar. In response to another question, Kosar said ticket sales were down this year, but thinks they were get back on track. Aside from the season ticket issue, Kosar addressed the board, coaching staff and the roughly 50 people in attendance about the past season. Acknowledging the coaches, Kosar said there was a "fine product on the ice to watch." As well, although it was an enjoyable experience for him, Kosar mentioned that the Bombers were looking for a new president as he would not be running again this year. "It was a tough decision," he said. Kosar also made mention that head coach and GM Mike Reagan signed a contract extension through until the 2012 season Ð which earned the coach a round of applause. On that note, Reagan spoke about his appreciation for the confidence he gets from the board. Looking back at his first year, the Bombers placed third in the finals while they made it to second last season. That leaves, according to Reagan, only first place for this season. With a young team on their hands this year, Reagan says they faired well as they competed against the best. "We made baby steps," he said. "Third, second and then first Ð and that's where we plan to be." With a few signings, the Bombers are already sitting with a promising player list. Some "top end kids" will be joining the team and Reagan says they are all excited to get the season going. "In my opinion," said the coach, "we are the best team returning, and that makes my job harder." With the expectations to win on their shoulders, Reagan says the Bombers have high hopes for themselves as well. "We are going to be bigger, stronger and grittier," he says. As for returning players, Reagan says the only player they will not be seeing is Louis Labe, who was moved to Ontario for future considerations. "Everyone we feel should be coming back is coming back and is as strong as ever," said the coach. Already thinking ahead, he says he sees 10 guys competing for seven available spots. The new Bomber board was also elected with the following people: President - Richard French Vice President - Dave Brooks Secretary/Treasurer - Sandy Blue Board Members Stu Robinson Paul Garrett Gord Fidierchuk Brett Hopper Dennis Hydamaka Hugh Bettger Greg McBratney Brad Burke Ian Cooper Todd Reynolds Hugh McIntyre
