There's no shortage of World Junior A Challenge alumni on NHL rosters to start the 2013-14 NHL season. In total, 24 will begin the season in the big leagues; that list includes two of three alumni chosen in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (Elias Lindholm and Valeri Nichushkin), five players who earned a place on the tournament all-star team (Zac Dalpe, Mikhail Grigorenko, former SJHLer Jaden Schwartz, Kyle Turris and Slava Voynov), one tournament MVP (Turris) and five gold medallists (Joe Colborne, Dalpe, John Moore, Riley Nash and Turris). Twenty-three of the 24 were drafted by NHL teams. Only Edmonton Oilers forward Will Acton, who captained Canada East at the inaugural World Junior A Challenge in Yorkton and Humboldt, Sask., in 2006, went unselected.
