The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce Kindersley forward Troy Schwab as the Midwest Sportswear Ltd. Player of the Week for the period ending January 9th. The 20-year-old Schwab leads the SJHL in scoring by a wide margin.ÊHe added to his totals with three goals and seven assists in three games over the last seven days.ÊHe was the main reason the Klippers have forced their way back into the Top 15 teams in the CJAHL. Already with a scholarship in hand to Lake Superior State, the Kindersley native has 18 goals and 51 assists in 37 games. Barring an injury layoff, he appears to be a shoe in to win the league scoring title. Linemate Josh Sim and Battlefords Jesse Matlock also made the short list.ÊBoth players scored four goals and two assists in three games. Defenseman of the Week: Gio Flamminio, Kindersley Klippers The SJHL Defenseman of the Week is 20-year-old Gio Flamminio of the Kindersley Klippers. The Prince Albert native scored one goal and five assists in three games played, all Klipper victories in the seven day period. Flamminio leads the SJHL in scoring amongst defensemen with 11 goals and 38 assists in 40 games. The Battlefords duo of Jared Mohr and Derek Keller finished as the runners-up. Mohr and Keller each had five points in three games as the Stars continue their hot run of thirteen straight without a loss. Goaltender of the Week: Jamie Langen, Melville Millionaires The SJHL Goaltender of the Week is 20-year-old Jamie Langen of the Melville Millionaires. Last week, Langen won both of his starts and posted a 1.97-GAA and .945-SPCT.ÊMelville has not won a game started by a goalie other than Langen this season. It's the second straight week Langen has taken home the award.ÊBattlefords' netminder Dustin MacDonald and La Ronge's Alex Gagnon also received consideration.
