Kelly Carrington Staff Writer Teams raced through the aisles of the Flin Flon Walmart last week on a scavenger hunt put on by the Red Cross. Searching for specific items needed to survive an emergency for 72 hours, the teams followed clues given by a Red Cross volunteer until they located the specifically marked items. Crossing the finish line first, with all the correct items, was the City of Flin Flon's City Slickers team, consisting of Karen Mackinnon and Colleen McKee with her daughter Maryn. The City Slickers were challenged by a team from The Pas consisting of Mayor Alan McLauchlan and his wife Johanna. Four teams had 25 minutes to complete the task of finding the answers to the clues and grabbing the right product. The Red Cross challenge was held in the middle of a nationwide fundraising campaign at Walmart where stores hoped to raise $2.6 million for domestic Red Cross disaster relief operations.
