Blaine Sautner, Head Coach of the Battlefords North Stars in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, has been appointed Assistant Coach of Team Western for the 2006 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge to take place in Regina, SK December 29, 2005 to January 4, 2006. "I'm very excited to represent Team Western," says Sautner.Ê"The opportunity to work with a group of young, skilled hockey players who may go on to the Western Hockey League and maybe even the NHL is very exciting." Sautner, 37, has plenty of experience to draw from to teach players, as a former physical education teacher and as an NCCP Advanced I certified coach.ÊHe has been the North Stars Head Coach and General Manager since 2001, having previously served five years as an assistant coach for the Flin Flon Bombers, also in the SJHL. Team Western will enter the Under-17 Hockey Challenge as defending champions. Ten teams will compete in this year's tournament, including five Canadian teams (Pacific, Western, Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic) and five international teams.
