The sport calendar for the 2006 Saskatchewan Winter Games has been determined. Athletes can choose between a total of 13 sports that will be played at the 2006 Saskatchewan Winter Games, to be held in Melfort from February 19-25, 2006: air pistol, alpine skiing, badminton, bowling, cross country skiing, curling (male and female), figure skating, hockey (male and female), judo, short track speed skating, table tennis, volleyball (male and female) and weightlifting. The age categories and technical packages have not been finalized but this information should be out shortly. The Zone 9 team (Northern Saskatchewan) will compete in cross country skiing, curling (male and female), hockey (male and female) and volleyball (male and female). Zone 9 will look at adding one or two sports to the team for the 2006 Games, but these sports are yet to be determined. The Zone 9 team selection process will be determined by the provincial sport governing body responsible for each sport. Team selections will likely happen in the fall of 2005 or early winter of 2006.
