For the third year, Sail Manitoba Ð in collaboration with the Precambrian Sailing Club Ð will be bringing its Mobile Sailing School to our area to instruct aspiring sailors. This year Ð for the first time Ð there will be slots available for adults and teens as well as younger sailors. The School is open to all Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach residents. The School will be based at the main beach at Denare Beach. Sail Manitoba will bring in six kid-friendly 'Vanguard Pram' sailboats, two double-handed boats (one Laser and one JY) suitable for teens and adults, and two coaches. The maximum number of students will be 12 children and eight teens/adults. Sail Manitoba will also be bringing up three windsurfers. Although we do not plan to put on a formal windsurfing course, the boards and coaches will no doubt be available in the evenings to assist anyone who might want to give windsurfing a try. Students will compete in the Nor-Man Regional Championships. We hope that Sailing School students from other northern communities will be able to join us for this prestigious event! Note that last year we had a full roster of 20 students Ð together with several disappointed applicants we were not able to accommodate. If you plan to register yourself or your kids for the Sailing School, please let us know as soon as possible.
